About
Stenvik Works is the practice of Kyle Kjorsvik.
A one-person firm focused on doing one thing well: looking at production AWS environments and the pipelines that ship to them, end-to-end, and writing down what's really going on.
Background
Twenty-plus years in software and infrastructure engineering. Currently Senior DevOps Engineer and Production Environment Lead at a government-regulated SaaS company operating under NIST 800-171, where the work runs the full stack: AWS architecture, CI/CD, secrets and IAM, monitoring, incident response, and the audit posture to support it all.
Prior roles span DevOps engineering and back-end development across smaller teams and larger systems. The throughline is the same: environments that other people have to trust, and the discipline to earn that trust.
The Stenvik approach
Stenvik is Norwegian for "stone bay." The name is deliberate. The work is meant to feel that way — solid, precise, and unhurried. Tradesman posture rather than salesman posture.
Engagements are fixed scope and fixed price. Two weeks in, one written report out. No hourly meter, no creeping retainer, no incentive to make problems sound bigger than they are. The report is the deliverable, and the report has to stand on its own — readable by the engineers you'll hand it to, useful to the executives you'll summarize it for, and honest about what's worth fixing and what isn't.
The goal of an audit isn't to find everything wrong. It's to give a small team back two weeks of senior attention they couldn't otherwise spare, and to leave behind a document that ages well.
